Luke Piper

Luke is the eldest grandson of the artist John Piper and son of the artist Edward Piper.  He was born in 1966 and brought up in Frome, Somerset.  After reading Geograghy at Cambridge Luke journeyed to Nepal in 1998 to work on a commission for a new hotel in the Himalayas which inspired him to make a second trip to Nepal returning via Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and India.  Many of the paintings were exhibitedin a hugely successful show at CCA Mayfair which was a sell out.  His work is exciting, colourful and dramatic; the layering of lines and building of bold colours is an effective tool in demonstrating the space in which he depicts and is evocotive of his emotional experience before the landscape.
